![]() Whilst there is a lower roller, it's this ridged rubber one that grips the paper surface. On the 1400, the roller is actually easily accessed and easy to clean. I always with lasers found this was an essential regular main tenance action to prevent misfeeds, where roller slips on the paper instead of feeding. Paper feed problems are almost inevitably down to paper dust gradually sticking to the feed roller (same occurs in laser printers) and cleaning this - does not take long - should solve your feeding problems. The push the roller down so it will go round a bit and repeat again and again until you have cleaned that roller. If you get some alcohol or even water on a soft (lint free cloth - like say linen handkerchief type of material) you can use a bit with your finger inside and the cloth tensioned to wipe across the roller surface, side to side. ![]() This is the paper feed roller and over time, picks up paper dust. If you feel along the right hand side of the paper insert area, at right side you will feel a ridged rubber roller - it's about an inch wide and about an inch in from the right inside edge. It is for the 1400 but I am sure the same or similar advice would apply to your model. ![]() Most Epsons use the same method for paper feeding.
